Medium Turbines
Although much smaller than large scale ‘wind farm’ sized turbines, medium scale turbines - up to 500kW - nonetheless represent a significant step up in capacity when compared to small scale turbines. They are subject to more planning restrictions because of their visual impact and concerns about noise, although with modern turbines the acoustic performance is actually very good. Additionally, the requirements surrounding grid connection, especially in terms of capacity and distance to an 11kV substation are more complex.
On the other hand, they offer huge potential investment returns for the right site and significantly contribute to the governments renewable energy targets.
